after the dynamo packing up the other week ive finally got round to fitting the alternator thats been sat in the garage for months, but now ive found that the insulation on some of the wires in the loom is cracking and dropping off, temp repars done for now but a full rewire to follow soon.

'67 Uk Patina Slammed Bug « Result #35 on Dec 2, 2009, 7:54am »
I have owned this Bug since Feb this year & have loved owning it but we have now bought a Splitty and need to replace this with something more practical we think
She is a 1967 Uk RHD Beetle with plenty of character and Patina which is why I love her so much. It has around 49,000 miles on the clock which is believed to be original as it was origanally an Isle of Wight car until 2006 this is more than posible as the island is so small. So until 2006 it had seen no or very little salt as they do not salt the roads on the Isle of Wight:) When it came over it was a standard Beetle in good condition but since being over here it has had new floor pans and heater channels so the underside is excellent. It then had a brand new adjustable narrowed beam fitted (4" I am told ? ), a pair of CB Performance drop spindles & a front disc brake setup from a later Beetle to help improve the braking. The back end was then dropped 2 splines to level things out a bit. It has shorter uprated shocks all round and the rears are adjustable damping too.
I am told that it is running the original 1200 gearbox, which has a short shift adaptor on it, and it now has a 1300TP engine in it which runs great. I am using it daily and have been for 6 months or so now doing atleast 25 mile each day. I have recently fitted a pair of new full sized tyres to the rear to raise the rear end slightly and also help with its top end cruising speed. It has a brand new Bug Pack header and tuck away silencer fitted to help with ground clearance, but it does still catch occasionally
When I bought her she had the original interior fitted still but as you can now see it all brand new I have fitted a full brand new underlay and carpet set and then had the seats and door cards all professionally retrimmed in Ox Blood Red. Someone at some point has obviously fitted a modern size stereo in the dash but luckly they only bent the metal out of the way so this has now been bent back and knocked into place and a replacement radio blank fitted. It doesn't make for a perfect dash but does add a bit more character. It has US Spec front and rear towel rail bumper fitted which feel very thick metal so either originals or very expensive repro's not the usual cheap thin stuff you can buy.
It is obviously tax exempt and has 11 months MOT. It failed its last MOT on a front side light bulb not working, both headlamp aims poor & OSF inner track rod ball joit worn. I have fitted brand new US spec headlamps with H4 modern light units in them but the original units will come with the car too and the other parts were replaced as required.
Prob loads more I have missed but can't think at the minute, so anything else you want to know please just ask. It comes with a folder full of old MOT's, reciepts and history.
