When the beetle was sprayed they took all the boot bonnet and door seals off and binned them. We have some now ones but they have no instructions does anyone know how these go on??

If they are the later (mexican) seals, i think they glue on as the later cars did away with the spot welded clamping strip as it's a rust trap.

Noooooooooooo!!! washing up liquid has a very high salt content and will leave you having to replace the section later. Some same vasaline but that will eat the rubber. The only safe bet is dare I say it, KY Jelly ;)

:o Apart from the liquid that's behind the seal slowly rusting the metal out of sight until one day it show's its ugly face and it's too late :-[

You should NEVER wash a car with washing up liquid either for the same reason.

the Guest is right about not washing vehicles in washing up liquid , due to its high salt content , top trade product suppliers like Autosmart and Autoglym point this fact out a bit .
